Kocu Vietnam is the main sponsor of the OTO-HUI Skills Contest 2019.

The first edition of the OTO-HUI Skills Contest 2019 organized by the OTO-HUI forum aims to create a platform to honor skilled technicians in the automotive service industry, as well as provide opportunities for professional networking, exchange of work experience, and inspire creative labor for the technical automotive workforce nationwide. The contest also contributes to setting standards for a true automotive repair technician, defining the practical work standards of a technician. This helps vocational students envision the career ladder. It helps technicians identify their capabilities and core professional values to develop a career path and enhance their skills.

Participating in the contest were numerous industry experts from universities, international professional organizations from Germany, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, business owners of automotive service companies in Vietnam, and over 150 spectators. During the opening ceremony, Mr. Phạm Vỵ, the head of the organizing committee, shared, "The automotive after-sales service industry is a rapidly growing sector in the Vietnamese market. We currently have over 3000 licensed automotive service establishments and thousands of repair points and small garages located nationwide. The number of people entering this profession has reached hundreds of thousands, with most operating without clear standards or criteria, and there hasn't been a meaningful platform that brings value to those in the profession..."

After the grand opening, the final round was intense and lively. The 4 contestants competing were: Phạm Văn Tuyên from Thái Phong Auto Company, Phạm Tiến Dũng from Garage Dung Bắc Yên Bái, Lê Xuân Thuận from VinaK Garage Hà Nam, and Đoàn Văn Kiên from Duy Đức Workshop Nam Định. They are experienced technicians who surpassed 62 other candidates through 2 qualifying rounds with the highest scores to compete in today's final match.

The contestants went through 4 tests in categories: System diagnosis error, electrical system inspection and troubleshooting, disassembly of undercarriage components, and engine parameter measurement, each lasting 30 minutes and performed directly on actual vehicles. Contestants had to perform under high pressure, follow procedures, and their total score was based on problem-solving results, operational methods, professionalism, and coping abilities.

After 120 minutes of intense competition, candidate Nguyễn Văn Tuyên clinched the championship with a score of 285/400, winning a prize of over 20,000,000 VND. Next was candidate Lê Xuân Thuận with an equivalent score but a lower qualifying score, securing second place and a prize worth 10,000,000 VND. The third and fourth prizes were awarded to Phạm Tiến Dũng and Đoàn Văn Kiên, respectively, each receiving prizes of nearly 5,000,000 VND. All prizes were sponsored by Kocu Vietnam Equipment Company.

The award ceremony took place solemnly in the presence of over 500 OTO-HUI forum members during the forum's birthday celebration on the evening of 18.05.2019. Contestants were overwhelmed with joy and happiness, proud to be OTO-HUI members, proud to participate in a meaningful contest, and delighted to stand on stage receiving awards with the cheers of hundreds of colleagues. This year's contest concluded with many emotions and brought significant value and meaning. Surely, the upcoming season of the OTO-HUI Skills Contest 2020 will be larger, more organized, more professional, and undoubtedly more successful.
